Sheena and Erin had the most relaxing wedding day surrounded by everyone they loved!
The girls got ready in town at a salon before heading to Sheena’s parents place to get dressed and have snacks.
Sheena showed me an old black and white photo from her Mum and Dad’s wedding day that she mentioned she would love to recreate. It was at Anderson’s Park in the old Marae. I was 100% down for the idea!
The getting dressed part of a bride’s day is always so much fun – getting to see everyone glammed up and feeling incredible is always the best and doing first looks with parents always melts my heart.
Sheena’s dress suited her so well, it made her look like a Grecian goddess.
There was a little bit of a hiccup – Aria’s dress had a broken zipper, so she had to be sewn into it in record time for us to make it to the church without being late!
The guys got ready at Erin’s parents house and enjoyed a chilled morning with a few drinks to calm the nerves!
The ceremony went off without a hitch in St Mary’s Basilica. Erin and Sheena kept stealing these little glances at each other throughout and you could tell they were both just buzzing with happiness and love.
After family photos we took the bridal party out to Anderson’s Park and set up a picnic spot for everyone to relax in the sun while we did photos.
Using just the once location gave us some downtime to really stop and enjoy the day without having to rush around to multiple locations on a tight time frame.
The reception was held at the Masonic Lodge with a wall of fairy lights behind the head table.
The speeches were extremely emotional and heartfelt. Erin had been through quite a tough year after being unwell and away in Christchurch for treatment. His friends all stood up and said a few words that had me shedding a few tears behind my camera.
Erin finished off his speech by singing to Sheena – I love you baby from 10 things I hate about you! It was hilarious to watch Imogen and Aria’s reactions at the top table.
It totally set the mood for the rest of the evening which was a full - on paaaaaaarty!
