Ricky and Emily were on holiday from Melbourne, having a babymoon before their first son arrives in January.

Ricky contacted me to say he had planned a surprise proposal up the Remarkables that morning and would I photograph it. Oh, heck yeah I would!

We were aiming to fly at 10.30am but the clouds rolled in and we had to wait until a little later in the day.

At 3.00pm we flew up to Cecil Peak (the wind was super strong and there had been a big snow dump that morning). Emily was under the guise it was just some awesome mountain maternity photos.

It was the coolest moment when Ricky got down on one knee – and the buzz coming off these two was unreal! We hung out for the next 45 mins playing in the snow, climbing up the mountain and watching a cheeky kea bounce around the rocks.

Such an epic afternoon – but there was still another surprise for Emily when she got back to the hotel…

Ricky had flow over her parents and his parent to celebrate with them! What a legend. And that you guys, is how you nail a proposal!!

A green parrot walks on a snow-dusted rock ledge against a backdrop of rugged, snowy cliffs. The scene is serene and chilly.

Two people lying in snow, making snow angels. One wears a fur coat, the other a light jacket. Snowy field background, relaxed mood.

A couple in a helicopter, smiling as the woman displays an engagement ring. Both wear headsets. Scenic view through the window.
