Te Anau // Doubtful Sound Helicopter & Faith Historic Cruise Elopement

Caroline & Tim managed to get some tickets to walk the Milford Track last week and decided that while they were in Te Anau, they would elope as well!

There was SO much thought and planned that was put into the day. Caroline had this incredible vintage gown made. Her hair was dyed and put up in this elegant roll. Tim had a tie that matched the gown and funky socks.

They got ready together in the morning at their Air Bnb - a nice relaxing start to their day. Then it was off to catch their first ever heli flight into the mountains. The weather was incredible and we had the best views of the stunning Fiordland scenery and dramatic mountains.

Landing at Doubtful Sound we were welcomed by a kea flying overhead! Caroline & Tim picked their spot and their ceremony began. These two love a good pub quiz, so Lou the celebrant incorporated one into their ceremony. Lots of laughing and giggles later they got down to the serious stuff and read heartfelt vows to each other. Then sealed the deal with rings and a kiss.

They spent the next hour enjoying a picnic, did the ODT quiz, and first dance while the sun beat down and they took in this spectacular location. You would think this was a pretty epic day huh? Well this was only part 1!

We flew back to Te Anau for a cup of tea and breather before the second part of the day commenced.

Evening rolled around and we made our way do to the waterfront to catch a ride on The Faith. A historic boat that sails the fiord!

I definitely had the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song stuck in my head as we set off, flags flying in the wind. Caroline & Tim spent the ride enjoying bubbles, snacks, the scenery, exploring the boat and right at the end they put the sails up!

We were briefed by the Capitan on the history of this ship - which has had quite a journey to end up in lake Te Anau! Below deck you can see the sleeping quarters, galley and engine room.

It was the coolest reception and with Caroline’s gown, they looked like they were born to be on this boat! It was the perfect end to the most incredible adventure day ❤️

Congratulations Mr Keast & Dr Lord - that was a pretty epic way to begin married life! 🥂
