Shiloh & Nick got married on a super windy and moody day in Wanaka.
These two met when they were at the National training camp for under 21’s hockey 10 years ago! They have been together ever since, moving around the country and recently living overseas in Belgium.
Both Nick & Shiloh play for New Zealand in the Black Sticks men’s & woman’s teams.
Nick’s family have a holiday house at Lake Hawea where they have spent summers enjoying boating and family time together over the years.
Coming down to Wanaka for the wedding I only got to meet Shiloh the day of. When I arrived at the house, she was getting ready with her sisters and Mum. What a beautiful, kind and warm family – there was this total calming presence and noting was a problem.
Nick was getting ready with his groomsmen at the family house and we were meeting the guys up on the hill overlooking the lake for the first look.
When we arrived, the wind was so strong we decided to move to a more sheltered area down the track, otherwise there really would have been a chance they could have been blown off the hill!
After the first look and a few photos we decided to scrap doing all the bridals now because it was just not happening with the wind, which was destroying the bridesmaid’s hair and Shiloh’s veil.
Up at The Lookout Lodge it was much calmer, with moody clouds hanging over the mountains. It was short and sweet ceremony with family and friends travelling from all over NZ to be there.
Instead of a formal sit - down dinner, there was a food truck serving pulled pork buns and sides. The tables were free for all and everyone could come and go and sit where they liked. It kept the reception super relaxed!
After speeches and cake cutting, we popped outside to grab a few more shots as the sun was going down.
