Have you ever seen this beautiful old kombi van Aggiee driving around? Her owners are Lynda and Warren who have a retro kombi hire business in Invercargill.
I got the pleasure of taking one of their kombis ‘Rhonda’ on a road trip from Invercargill to Mount Cook and honestly for a start off I didn’t really know what the fuss was with kombis – well a week with Rhonda and I am sold! These vans have a personality of their own and are so much fun to drive! With a little kitchen set up, bed and pop top roof they are the ultimate way to enjoy a summer adventure.
Last weekend I went up to Alexandra to do a session with Lynda, Warren and Aggiee on their little slice of paradise – 10 acres of land in Alexandra, with snow capped mountains.
There was a severe weather warning issued because a huge snowstorm was set to hit the area.
We had so much fun climbing on the huge rocks, drinking bubbles and running around the property enjoying the last rays of sun before the clouds rolled in and the wind turned bitterly cold. Thankfully Aggiee has a heater so we all jumped inside to warm up.
Lynda and Warren have not had photos together for years – I was so stoked to get the chance to photograph them in their happy place with their beautiful van.
"We chose Brogan for our adventure session photo shoot because we loved her natural style of photography.
We wanted some amazing shots with our red kombi van in the hills of Alexandra - because that's who we are and what we're about. We've not had photos taken of us together since our wedding day and I think it's important to create memories throughout your life together.
But we're not at ease in front of the camera - so that was an initial concern when we wanted to have natural looking photos. Brogan is awesome though at just making the whole session feel like we're out having an adventure together as a couple with our bestie along! We ended up in sitting in our van at the end with the heater on to warm up after it got cold, just chatting with her about all sorts.
You don't have to put on make-up, get your hair done, wear your glam clothes (unless you want to!) That's not us, and that's what we loved about our photo shoot.
