Nichole & Matt decided to have an intimate elopement with close friends and family in Queenstown. The one unknown when planning any event, is the weather and man we got some Spring mood swings.
The pair got ready with their friends. Nichole doing her own hair & make up for the day too! Matt had a team to help him get into his attire and they both looked flawless.
After a first look, we had planned to do something mountain photos. It was torrential rain they didn’t look like it would ease up all day. We still decided to try and brave it with umbrellas and see how it went!
We had about 10 mins to do something photos before it was just too cold, but I’m so pleased we did. These two have a history of bad weather following them around so it seemed fitting to get photos in the bucketing rain!
Back at the house the cake was being put together (Nichole had baked it herself and transported it from the North Island!), the vacuum was on, glasses stacked for a champagne tower and clothes were dried out.
The ceremony space was perfect with big sliding doors that were opened, giving glimpses of the mountains between clouds. Nichole’s Dad walked her down the aisle with a beaming grin for a beautiful ceremony.
Afterwards they all enjoyed drinks, speeches and celebration, before going to out for a group dinner in town.
Overnight Queenstown got the biggest snow dump of the season with snow on the ground at Jacks Point!
We zipped up the Remarkables and found a nice spot to pop bubbles and for the pair to read their private vows together.
The day before during the ceremony Nichole & Matt had just said generic vows repeated after the celebrant, but they had more they wanted to say privately to each other and this is such a nice was to do it during your couples photos.
It was such a pleasure to adventure over the course of two days with Nichole & Matt. With the weather, I feel like there is some metaphor for marriage in there - something about after a terrible storm, the sun will shine again. Congratulations Mr & Mrs Davis!
