Garston // Elopement at Welcome Rock

Robyn and Jacob came from Canada to New Zealand and explore our beautiful country on a 2 week camper van trip. They decided that while they were here, it was the perfect place to get married!

Both being adventurous and loving the outdoors they decided to stay at Welcome Rock in Garston and get tie the knot with the mountain views.

Unfortunately the weather did not play the part and we got super low fog. But, this did not wipe the smiles off Robyn & Jacob’s faces all day! They got ready instead at the first hut on the track.

We then found an area low enough to get some views of the valley below for their ceremony. After some bubbles and doughnuts to fuel up, we hiked in to the Slate Hut on the track.

Here they exchanged private vows and read letters from home ❤️ the fog came and went as the day passed and we got these sneaky views of the surrounding mountains. As the sun set though, it all cleared and there was a super red sunset!

These days are some of my absolute favourite - walking in we just chatted about life and hearing how these two speak about each other really enforced how special their relationship and bond is. It is such an honor to be a part of an elopement and try to capture these feelings and moments. I definitely had a few moments where there were tears in my eyes!

Congratulations Mr & Mrs VanderWal 🥂 what a way to kick off married life!
