Cellina & Whare’s wedding was all about the joining of two families and cultures. It was the most beautiful blend of Filipino & Māori traditions, surrounded by their loved ones.
Celina and her bridesmaids spent the morning doing each others hair and make up - it was such a cool vibe, with lots of laughs and a few tik toks made along the way.
Whare got ready at the Ascot - he looks amazing dressed in his wedding outfit & korowai.
The rain in the morning made the ground wet enough that they had to have an indoor ceremony. The kids came down the aisle with dried flowers, and then Cellina with her parents. The did a lace draping and rope tying, before reading the most heartwarming vows that left not a dry eye in the room!
We managed to get outside for family photos (these were so important with guests travelling from the Phillipines, including Cellinas 92 year old grandfather & grandmother!). Whare also had 5 generations of his family there, which is pretty amazing!
For photos with the bridal party we stayed on site and just took Cellina & Whare out to the forest a Seaward bush for some alone time & portraits.
The reception was SO good! Instead of just traditional speeches, everyone got up and did a performance! There were so many amazing songs sung and man, the talent in that room was unreal. When it came to dancing they did a first dance, father/daughter dance for Cellina & her Dad. Mother/son dance for Whare & his Mum.
Then to get all of the tears going again, Whare did a father/daughter dance with his 15 month old daughter and Cellina did one with her 92 year old grandfather!
It was such a beautiful day, full of tradition but so uniquely them ❤️ Congratulations Mr & Mrs Hiki!
